Question
I currently work with Kindergarten age children but wish to work with Primary age in the future. I want to look at different theories to improve my teaching. I've looked at Maslow, Gardener and Behaviourism. But really I'm working without any kind of mentor so I would love any suggestions on places or people to start with. I live in Japan so the Internet is my primary English resource.

Answer
Dear Simon
Thank you for your question. Forgive the delay in responding; life has been quite hectic these days.
There is so much information available on development and teaching of children that I can see how overwhelming it can be.
If you are looking for reading material and therefore websites that you can visit then I can suggest a few:

www.thegateway.org
www.educationworld.com
www.teachervoices.com
www.inspiringteachers.com

www.guidancechannel.com
www.teacherfocus.com
www.edufind.com

For information on child development:
www.cdipage.com
www.kidsource.com
www.childdevelopmentinfo.com
www.search-institute.org
You can check my own website at www.ajoyfulplace.com
These should provide you with a wealth of help and additional links.

If you are interested I teach some courses online on child development and learning
www.universalclass.com/i/crn/3746.htm Theories of child development
www.universalclass.com/i/crn/4026.htm Social and emotional learning
www.universalclass.com/i/crn/5282.htm  Introduction to the psychology of learning
www.universalclass.com/i/crn/4588.htm  Introduction to special education.

In addition I have a book for teachers and parents on social and emotional learning for sale at www.lulu.com/content/157890 That might also be helpful.
Hope this helps and good luck
