Subject: What Bears to Collect

Question
I have been collecting teddies ad hoc for many years.  It is only recently that I have decided to take a more serious interest in the subject.  I have a selection of Gund, Boyds and Russ at the moment, which have been chosen because they look adorable.  What type of bears do you think I should be concentrating on for my collection.  Although I may be able to afford an occasional Steiff, I do not have infinite sums of money to spend on my collection.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Tracy

Answer
Hi there Tracy

:O) the ones you like is the thing to say, try collecting some of the Boyds (Bartons Creek) or Russ Ltd Editions they are very sort after at times, or try finding a reasonable artist who could make the kind of bears you like.

It is all down to taste, and not every Steiff is very collectable, if you go for one try one with white labels not the yellow.

Most shops and artists do layaway where you can purchase a nice bear over a certain period, I do this as well so I can afford the bears I like.

There are wonderful artists all over the world, if you can pick up the Teddy Bear Times or Teddy Club International or try ebay, but make sure that the bear off ebay looks a better quality one.

I do hope you find what you want, thanks for the question and happy hugsn n collecting.

Tanya
