Today 1 in 5 sexually active people has HPV (linked to cancer and genital warts) and 1 in 4 has Herpes. 90% of girls who do NOT use condoms become pregnant each year, and AIDS cases are on the rise. Those who do not have sex will not have to deal with these issues, nor will 99% of those who use condoms correctly and consistently. In short, abstain from sex or use condoms - and use them correctly.
Parents of adolescent and teen girls should research Gardasil, a vaccine against many forms of HPV. You may not think your daughter will be sexually active, but this will also offer her certain health protection in the event of rape - or should she become sexually active.

Question
I am a 15 year old boy that has a crush on a sophmore that would happen to be one of the most popular girls at my school. How do I talk to her without laying it on to heavy, and what can I do to make my clothing more attractive? What could I do? I need as much help as I can. Please help if you can....

Colton, please do not use your last name on sites like these. I want you to be safe, and last names are road maps you don't want bad guys having!
Buy a Teen or Seventeen magazine, find pictures of outfits you like, and see what you have in your closet that will help you achieve "that look." Also, ask a girl to help you with your clothes. Girls have a sense of style that comes to boys much later. Now is also a great time to ask your mom and dad to buy you pieces for your "look" for Christmas.
A tiny bit of cologne, clean teeth, and fresh breath are just as important as clothes. If a girl thinks you smell nice, she'll remember you!
As for the girl you like, don't focus on what she will think of you. Write down the things (characteristics) you think are important to girls, and BE those things. They will probably include things like honest, kind, intelligent, hard working, and so on. You can't control what a girl thinks about you. Period. But you can control YOU, so Be the kind of guy girls LIKE!!
Next, just work on being her friend. Girls like friends, but they don't always like guys who try to act like "boyfriends." Great!! Because being a friend is easy! Ask her what book she's reading or what she got on some test.
Lastly, be the one to say goodbye rather than "hanging out." It's an old trick, and it works. Girls can't stand being "left behind" by a guy that has to go before the conversation is over. It makes them want to talk again. ALWAYS be the one to say, "Gotta go. See you around."
