Teen Dating Issues/Getting a boyfriend

Question
I'm 17 and have never had a boyfriend and I feel like I want one now. There's one guy that I've known my whole life who I have liked for three years off and on and when we are together sometimes it is really easy to talk to him but sometimes it isn't. He always says that he hates me and teases me but it is in a jokey was and I like it cus it is our thing. I think that if he liked me he would have done something about it by now cus he isn't the shy type. People say I should tell him but I don't want to ruin our friendship. Then there is this other lad who I kind of like who I have known 2 months but he is a year younger than me which I don't mind but people may find strange and he seems really nice too. I think i have more of a chance with him but I don't know how to tell him I like him. Also I am going to uni next year which would make either of these long distance- is it even worth bothering? I feel stupid having never had a boyfriend and I have never kissed somebody properly. What should I do to get a boyfriend?

Answer
There's no such way to get a boyfriend. There aren't any rules or plans to getting one, it just happens whenever you aren't looking and are just going about your life normally. Don't think about it too much - it'll drive you crazy!

As for long distance relationships, it's said to be a love/hate thing. Love: because the distance strengthens your relationship, hate: you miss each other too much or someone doesn't trust the other one as much and so forth...

Don't worry about what people think of you and this guy, if you two are good for each other and bring out the best in each other, then that's that!

Good luck

Expertise

Life as a teen can be extremely difficult and everyone can understand where you are coming from. And although you may have the answer already in your mind, it's sometimes easier to hear it from someone else. I can answer anything from is he/she treating you right, is the right person for me, how to deal with break-ups and heartbreaks, and so forth. I can try my best to answer to your question as quick as possible. I can only try so hard to understand what you're saying so please, be clear about what you're trying to get across. As for length of letters, keep them BRIEF and to the point. Don't beat around the bush about what you're trying to ask, if you give me something short I can answer them with a better understanding of the issue.

Experience

I too am a teen and find that these are the hardest years to have a relationship and really learn from them. Sometimes, it can be extremely difficult to see through the feelings that we posses and instead, we make the wrong decisions.
