Teen Dating Issues/What do I do in this situation?

Question
Well, I'm going to have to explain everything first.
For starters, I know this really great guy who's in a grade higher than me (his group of friends and mine are friends, but don't always hang out). Two of my friends have hooked up with two of his, and for about 3 weeks now everyone is saying that me and him should go out.
At a halloween party the other night we were both there and when we all went to the park, me and him traded costumes and started play fighting and messing around. Then one couple from our groups called us over and we started discussing our relationship. Problem is, he's graduating in about 3-4 weeks and then he'll be leaving to do an apprenticeship in the army for next year before getting a job elsewhere. In the heat of the moment, I was confused about my emotions so told them that I'm not attracted to him for this reason, and it wouldn't be worth dating him for those few weeks before he leaves. But they still believe I like him, which I now know that I do, but I don't know if he knows. I don't know what his feelings are for me but I heard that he said yes to a question relating to whether we should go out. I feel as though I've stuffed things up in our relationship (and I know I've confused everyone), so I want to find out his feelings and set everything straight. It's killing my emotions because I'm always thinking of him... How should I approach him (during school is the only time) or should I talk to a reliable friend first? Also, do you think it's worth actually dating him now or should I just hang out with him and his friends as much as possible before they leave school altogether?

Answer
i think you should talk to him and let him know how you feel. tell him you really didnt want to get into a relationship if he is going to be leaving. i dont think there is anything wrong with going out with him. just have fun, you should get serious with a guy for just a few dates anyways. :)
