Question Hi, I have two questions.
1) I was just informed that hose (any color) are totally not an option, and your shoes should match your dress. I was going to wear a red dress with black shoes and nude hose to a ball on Saturday, but now I'm having second thoughts. What I am I supposed to wear with the dress?
2) I am going to a wedding at the beginning of April...would a red dress/black sweater be too dark to wear? Thank you so much!
Answer Hey Jen!
Who ever told you that may just have their own thoughts about how dresses should be worn and paired with.
Personally I think that hose is completely an OK option. Some people think that it looks to old fashioned, girly, or possibly even "oldish". But in my opinion that is completely not true. If you are wearing a nude hose, I don't think it would really matter becasue after all, it IS nude! :D
all they see is your skin color. and the shoes do NOT have to match. They would only have to match if it was like for a recital or something really formal. But a red dress and black shoes would look fabulous-- just make sure that it is ballroom type shoes. Also, is your dress long or short? Because if it is long, then I dont think you would need any hose or tights. But if it ends around your thigh area or above, you should diffinetly wear tights/hose. And you know what? When things dont match, it adds spunk and fun into your outfit, so it really just depends...
are you going to something really formal?
you may also want to ask others, if you know any other person going, what they are wearing. But when they tell you (if they do) dont double copy them, otherwise you'll seem really uncreative, and accused of copy cat. that would not be good.
As for the wedding, well, maybe. But if the guy is going to wear a black tux, then why not? You can try pink, maybe, instead. Or try some fair colors, not too dark or light.
