Question Hello, I am a seventeen year old female and I never really developed my own style. I'm hoping you could give me a jump start. Right now I typically wear tight-ish jeans with a polo and a graphic or regular t-shirt. Sometimes I will wear knee-length shorts to replace the jeans and I always wear flip flops (I have quite large feet at a size 9.5)
I have very dark brown hair with natural reddish highlights and extremely pale skin. My eyes are light brown "doe eyes" as my family calls them, but I'm not sure what significance that has.
I'm really not too comfortable with my body type. I have a midsized chest (34 C) and a nice torso, but a larger lower half. My family tells me I have "kankles" and my legs are not very "womanly" if you know what I mean. (I am 5’6” and weigh 130lbs)
I need help picking out clothes for both in school and out. The dress code at my high school is a crewneck or polo shirt, jeans or skirts // shorts that hit 2” above the knee, and a belt at all times. I need help finding clothes that fit these parameters but still will look good on me. I need colors as well as basic outfits if possible. I typically like the styles in Pacsun, Wetseal, JC Penny, and Bealls and I live in Florida, so tips on cold weather clothes are really unnecessary.

Answer Hi! The "significance" of doe eyes are that they are really cute. Lol! Anyways, I sounds like you already know some good stores. Some of my favorites are Maurices, the Buckle, and Vanity. If you want to have more "style", then try looking in other stores for something a little different, or find a polo shirt that buttons down far-ish. If your dress code allows it, you could completely unbutton a polo shirt and wear a camisole or tank top underneath. Or you could find a cute little vest and wear it over a polo or graphic/plain tee. Because you have to wear a belt all the time, try looking for one in a super bright color, or with a pattern or sparkly stuff on it, or maybe a belt made from a scarf or ribbon.
I'm sorry I don't know what to do to make "kankles" or "cankles" look better (for any who don't know, kankles are when your calf and ankle sort of merge together so that your ankle aren't skinnier or "delicate" looking) except for not wearing white tights or those chunky shoes...i think they're called keds or skateboard shoes. If by not womanly you mean no hips, then try to accentuate that part of your body with an attention grabbing belt and pale jeans that skim your thighs and flare at the bottom. If by not womanly you meant not shapely then try wearing dark jeans or leggings with an A-line skirt, and brighter colors on top. Also maybe wear a bracelet or necklace or maybe a cute hairdo.
Also, since plaid shorts are really pretty cool right now, you could find a cute pair of bermuda (knee-length) plaid shorts and pair it with ablack, white, brown, gray, or tan polo shirt, or one with matching colors.
For out of school, you can wear anything! You can wear all of the above, or more daring stuff. Since you have a nice torso, I think you should try a cute off-the-shoulder shirt, just for fun. I just recently bought one that's white with gold on it, and its really cute. You can wear a little cami underneath if you aren't comfortable with showing your shoulders or don't have a strapless bra. Try lots of things until you find what you like, and that will be your style.
