About Z. Amanda Chen
Expertise I have always been interested in fashion and actually design/redesign some of my own clothes. Since I'm a teen, I can answer questions relating to teenage fashion, what kinds of clothes make you look older or younger than what you actually are, and where you can find bargains that resemble designer clothes. However, since I'm usually focused on the new, I don't know much about vintage clothing. Additionally, although I know a lot about skirts, shorts, and shoes, outerwear fashion is beyond me.
Experience I design or redesign some of my own clothes, and I am constantly trying out new looks. Additionally, I've also learned quite a few fashion tricks on how to stand out and how to blend in.
Education/Credentials None.

Question Hi! I was wondering what key trends are going to be coming up for Fall 08? Also, last year I noticed many girls in my grade were wearing moccasins, and was wondering what I should wear them with, if and when they'll be in fashion this year, and where to buy them( do stores such as American Eagle, H&M have them)? I've recently been caring more about my appearance and would love a new hairstyle for my sophomore year of high school, something kind of chic, but in style...any suggestions? Thank you so much!!! <33
Answer Hey Kelly,
The Fall/winter trends for this year are classic Hollywood glamor. It's all about the waist, as opposed to last year's trapeze styles. This year, you'll want to wear pencil skirts, curvy dresses, and belted coats. Of, course, classics like bootcut/skinny jeans, tote bags, and turtlenecks are still in. Patterns to look for this season are plaid (yay!), blue (all shades), gold, copper, and florals. Sadly, designers turned away from my favorite color this season: silver. Themes that seem promising and popular are oriental, equestrian (gotta love the coats), velvets (bring your lint brush...), and fur (which is soo not animal friendly). A few last notes: wide leg pants still look great and (cashmere) cardigans are a classic.
And yes, it's a good thing you noticed the moccasin trend. You're completely right! Some designers are turning moccasins into the new ballet flats. Unfortunately, neither American Eagle nor H&M sell them. But, I have seen them in Old Navy, Forever 21, and regular shoe stores like DSW. For advice on which ones to get, go here: http://fashionbinge.blogspot.com/2008/01/spring-2008-shoe-trends-are-moccasins.h...
For your hairstyle, I don't know anything about what you look like, but I'll tell you that long and wavy (think Nicole Kidman) Hollywood glamor is in. If you can't manage to grow your hair long in a week, don't worry. Hairstyles don't really follow trends. Instead, find out what shape your face is and google it. You'll see the best ways to wear your hair according to your face. Although I must say, skinny hairbands, pretty side barrettes, side-swept bangs, and side ponytails are looking to be hits this season.
Well, I hope that helped! Good luck with your new look!
~Amanda
