AboutZ. Amanda Chen Expertise I have always been interested in fashion and actually design/redesign some of my own clothes. Since I'm a teen, I can answer questions relating to teenage fashion, what kinds of clothes make you look older or younger than what you actually are, and where you can find bargains that resemble designer clothes. However, since I'm usually focused on the new, I don't know much about vintage clothing. Additionally, although I know a lot about skirts, shorts, and shoes, outerwear fashion is beyond me.
Experience I design or redesign some of my own clothes, and I am constantly trying out new looks. Additionally, I've also learned quite a few fashion tricks on how to stand out and how to blend in.

Question heyy so i have a problem. i went shopping yesterday and bought my homecoming dress. im 14 and this will be my freshman year. i have no clue what people wear but i picked a dress that i thought looked cute. its bright blue. 3-4 inches above the knee. halter top. and it has that bottom where theres a strip of tight fabric around your legs and the rest is flowy. well i sent a picture to my cousin and she said that she doesnt think its appropriate for a 14 year girl and that its too low cut. ( its just about where your tan line ends). so im worried now i dont want to look like a skank but i wanted a more mature dress. what do u think?
Answer Allie,
if you can, could you send me the same picture you sent to your cousin? On the ask a question page, under the button that says check spelling, there is a small link that says "attach an image." Please just send me a picture of that dress.
But, judging by your description, your dress sounds fine. 3-4 inches above the knee should be about an inch above your fingertips and that's the normal length for a party dress. However, I can't tell by your description if your dress is too low-cut or not (everyone's tan lines differ depending on the type of bikini).
