About Z. Amanda Chen
Expertise
I have always been interested in fashion and actually design/redesign some of my own clothes. Since I'm a teen, I can answer questions relating to teenage fashion, what kinds of clothes make you look older or younger than what you actually are, and where you can find bargains that resemble designer clothes. However, since I'm usually focused on the new, I don't know much about vintage clothing. Additionally, although I know a lot about skirts, shorts, and shoes, outerwear fashion is beyond me.

Experience
I design or redesign some of my own clothes, and I am constantly trying out new looks. Additionally, I've also learned quite a few fashion tricks on how to stand out and how to blend in.

Education/Credentials
None.

Subject: Can't get a cleavage

Question
Hi,
I am 16 years old. for a while now, i haven't actually been able to get a cleavage. For our formal dance at school (the equivalent of a prom), i pretty much needed a cleavage. I tried a push up bra, however it did not work.. the only thing that has seemed to work is this sticky silicone cup things which clip at the middle, pulling the breasts inwards.. although it did not actually make much of a difference.

I know that women don't have natural cleavages, but it seems my other friends seem to have pretty good cleavages that are more evident than mine. Also, i noticed that my breasts tend to point outwards... could this be affecting it? I'd like to know how to get a nice looking cleavage.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Rebecca,
This is a hard question for me because I've always just chosen a dress that fit my needs, as it is easier to find the dress to fit the bra than it is the other way around.  But, if you are determined to have cleavage, there are a few ways.  You may want to do a short and fast bra reading on zafu.  I've used this website before and they usually give you what you want, so if this works out, you won't need to read the rest of this.  You can find the reading here:
http://www.zafu.com/women/regular/bra/catalog.do?method=SEO_CATALOG

Now first off, most women don't have natural cleavage BECAUSE everyone's breasts tend to point outwards to some degree.  Most people would use pushups or silicons to enhance their figure, but you say those don't work for you, which is a bit of a problem because I was going to recommend the "Diva."  It's this cleavage creator that is a bit pricey, but has been known to work very well.  Judging by your attempts with pushups and silicons, and since the "Diva" uses the same methods, I suggest you don't try it unless as a last resort.  You can find it here, if all else fails:
http://www.ladylikeshop.com/diva.php

Another way that people use to create cleavage is by using makeup.  I'm not sure if you want to do this or not, but makeup would greatly enhance your silicon adhesives.  All you have to do is to dust a bronzer inbetween your breasts and shade in.  Then brush on some highlighter or a silver/white eyeshadow on the breasts on both sides of the bronzer.  The problem with this method is, you have to be careful not to put too much makeup on.

The surest way to get cleavage is with a corset or bustier.  I don't really know much about them, so if you go this route, you should ask another expert.  There used to be an expert who was an expert on corsets, but I'm not sure if she's still around.  If you can't find her, I guess you can ask Ava under teen fashion (she says she can help with shape fixers).

Well, I hope that helped, and have a great time at your formal!
~Amanda
