Teen Health - Pain in Thigh

Expert: Samantha Mattingly - 2/26/2008

Question
I am an almost 15 year old girl.Last night I woke up with a dull constant pain in my outer left thigh. I had to get up and walk it out and when I went back to bed I had a hard time trying to fall asleep because I could fell the constant annoying pain in my thigh. I finally found a simi comfortable position and fell back to sleep. This morning I hoped that I could have slept the pain of. But I found that it was still there and going strong. I can barely feel the pain if I am exercising or jumping but if I am just sitting or lying down I feel it more. what is this and how can I stop it with out my parents finding out about? If they find out they may want to take me to the Drs. Plus I can't get onto my email very often so can you be sure that this gets on the website? Thanks!

Answer
Dear Help Me,

It can't make sure this gets on the web site, I have no control over that.  Did you maybe excersise and hurt you leg earlier in the day?  Try putting an ice pack or a heating pad on it for a few minutes, and see if it helps.  It it doesn't, tell your prents about it.  They will probably take you to the doctor, but doctors really aren't all that bad.
