Question QUESTION: how long does a girl have stomach aches before she starts her period? i hear about a year... thanks :)
ANSWER: Dear Kelsey,
What do you mean by "stomach aches"? Do you mean bloating, like when you feel like you are going to explode, or cramps? If you mean bloating, bloating usually occurs when your period is about to start, and during your period. You probably mean cramps. Cramps are different for every girl. Most girls do not have cramps before they begin their period, but others do. And for the others that do, it's about 6- 12 months until you get your period, sometimes sooner. Hope this helps.

QUESTION: I meant by like there stomach hurts for somewhat of a no apparent reason. Maybe bloating, in some way yes, and slight cramping. thanks.

It's different for every girl. Some girls simply do not have them before they start their first period, while others do. Generally in girls who do have them before their period, they start 6-12 months maybe even sooner. Again, most girls don't have cramps before they begin their first period, and some do. Bloating doesn't really occur until your period has begun, and during your period. Hope this helps.
