About Junko Expertise I can answer most questions pertaining to teen health, thought I cannot give medical advice. I can explain medical terminology, describe medical conditions and hopefully help people understand what is going on with their bodies. If I don`t know an answer to a question, being a medical student, I can easily find out the answer since I have many resources I can refer to.
Expert: Junko Date: 1/28/2007 Subject: Brown discharges 1 week after period
Question Hi Last January 23 2007 until now, I saw some dry brown spots (sometimes sticky brown) on my pantyliner. But they are odorless and i dont feel any pain from my body. What does this mean? My menstruation ended on January 15 or 16 2007. I had unprotected anal sex but my boyfriend did not cum inside my anus. This happened during the 4th day of my period so that was on January 13,2007. yes only anal sex. I never had any vaginal sex coz I prefer anal sex coz its fun for me and its the safest way to enjoy pleasure while avoiding pregnancy.By the way i used to have irregular periods. Please tell me what are those brown discharges? Please reply Thank You
Answer Hi Jill,
The brown discharge you're seeing is most likely old blood. It's not uncommon to have some brown spotting before and/or after your period, especially when you first start menstruating. You shouldn't be spotting all the time, though. If it continues, you should see your doctor/gynecologist. You also mention that you've had irregular periods in the past. Are your periods regular now? Again, if your periods continue to be irregular, you should see your doctor.
While it's true that having anal sex won't get you pregnant, you can still get sexually transmitted infections by having unprotected anal sex. You should make sure to practice safe sex (condoms or some other barrier method) whether you are having oral, anal or vaginal sex.
