About Junko
Expertise
I can answer most questions pertaining to teen health, thought I cannot give medical advice. I can explain medical terminology, describe medical conditions and hopefully help people understand what is going on with their bodies. If I don`t know an answer to a question, being a medical student, I can easily find out the answer since I have many resources I can refer to.

Experience
I am a 4th year medical student.

Question

If at any time you experience any shortness of breath or radiating pain to your jaw, left arm or back in between your shoulder blades in addition to your chest pain, you should seek immediate medical attention.

What did you mean by that? Radiating pain? Do you mean symptoms of heart attack? oy. I do not have like chest pain. It's like tight or feels like I gotta breath in or out. It's worse when im bending over or something. It is hard to explain. I do have pain around my jaw a lot. Close to my ear it seems. I have had fluid in my ears for over year now,but the pain at back of my jaw feels connected to fluid in ears and pain ears. Does that make sense?

The whole front of my neck is sore of course also so.

I guess im dying huh....

Do you think I have heart problems?

thanks

Answer
Kevin,

You're not dying, and I don't think you're having a heart attack, but anytime anyone mentions chest pain, it's important to let them know what symptoms to be aware of in case of a heart attack.  It can be hard to tell the difference between chest pain from a heart attack and chest pain from something less serious.

I still think your chest tightness might be from heartburn.  Did you write to me before about having irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)?  If you did, heartburn can be a symptom of IBS.

As for your jaw pain - yes, that's likely due to the fluid in your ears.  However, I'm not really sure what your neck soreness could be from.  Have you been stressed out or physically straining yourself somehow that would make your neck sore?

Again, you should see a doctor to find out what is causing your chest tightness and your other pains.
