About Junko
Expertise
I can answer most questions pertaining to teen health, thought I cannot give medical advice. I can explain medical terminology, describe medical conditions and hopefully help people understand what is going on with their bodies. If I don`t know an answer to a question, being a medical student, I can easily find out the answer since I have many resources I can refer to.

Experience
I am a 4th year medical student.

Subject: Thin Blood

Question
I have thin blood, like if i cut myself i will blead for ages & i often get blood noses. My Athletics teacher told me that this is because i am fit, is this true or is there another reason why i have thin blood?

Answer
Hi Hayley,

Has this always been a problem for you?  If so, it's possible that you have a inherited a blood disorder that causes you to bleed for a long time.  Do you also bruise easily and/or frequently?  Being fit is not a cause of prolonged bleeding and frequent nose bleeds.  Just to be sure nothing more serious is going on, I would recommend seeing a doctor.

I hope this helps.
