About Junko
Expertise
I can answer most questions pertaining to teen health, thought I cannot give medical advice. I can explain medical terminology, describe medical conditions and hopefully help people understand what is going on with their bodies. If I don`t know an answer to a question, being a medical student, I can easily find out the answer since I have many resources I can refer to.

Experience
I am a 4th year medical student.

Question
Hey, I am 6 feet tall and weigh 170 lbs...I recently lost 50 lbs and I am luckily keeping the weight off...I still have a "belly" though with flab, but I am told that I shouldn't lose anymore weight! (my mom)...SOO, in order to look good for the summer...I want to tighten my stomach, get rid of the layer of fat I still have, and maybe get abs? I go to the gym every night and do about 200 sit-ups, which don't seem to be doing anything because I have done them for the last 5 months and have only noticed a difference in my belly size..I cant get rid of the last few layers of fat!! help please with any exercises you have for me!!!!

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Chris,

First of all, congratulations on your weight loss!  Is the "belly" you're trying to lose mostly excess skin or is it actually fat?  If it's extra skin after having lost so much weight, that is unlikely to go away with simple exercises.  If it is, in fact, fat, exercise will help, but you will need to do aerobic exercise, such as running, in addition to abdominal exercises. Check out this website for some ideas:  http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/conditioning/a/aa020402a.htm

Good luck, and I hope this helps!
