About Junko Expertise I can answer most questions pertaining to teen health, thought I cannot give medical advice. I can explain medical terminology, describe medical conditions and hopefully help people understand what is going on with their bodies. If I don`t know an answer to a question, being a medical student, I can easily find out the answer since I have many resources I can refer to.
Well...for 10 months I have had different stomach problems. Mostly its digestion problems. Every morning I wake up my bowels hurt and feel blocked. I have LOTS of constipation often and in mornings it just feels very uncomfortable and I have other uncomfortable stomach problems as well...a lot of times I also just have unexplainable discomfort in bowels and stomach. I told my mom to take me to the doctor and she said not til I change my diet. I work at Mcdonalds and have worked there for over a year. I guess I can see why she says that because I work there 5 days a week and eat at least one sandwich each one of those days plus fries and nuggets or whatever. I don't know if thats what has screwed up my system or what. I also feel very weak in the mornings too and stuff. I have also have had moving feelings in my body and vibrations and stuff also. It just seems if I have food coming out in my intestines it gives me a LOT of discomfort. I am so sick of it. Im 17. Plus I have sinus problems and stuff. Lately at work I have been not having sandwiches and not greesy foods. I have been eating salads and apples and plain grilled chicken which is not greasy because its on grill and not deep-fried.
I am so dying... :(
Answer Hi Kevin,
You're not dying. It sounds like you may not have a very good diet, so a lot of your digestive problems could be due to poor nutrition. Knowing how tall you are and how much you weigh may help me assess your situation a little better. Have you noticed any improvements since changing your diet and eating less McDonald's food?
To help with your constipation, you should eat more fiber - fruit, whole grains (bread, cereal), vegetables, beans. If your constipation is really bad, you may want to try supplemental fiber from something like Metamucil. Hopefully this will help with your bowel discomfort.
To get a better idea of what your experiencing, I'm going to ask you a few questions - I hope you don't mind. What kind of pain are you experiencing? Is it just general uneasiness/discomfort? Do you feel any sharp pains? Have you noticed any patterns in when you experience discomfort (for example, just after or before meals)? Are you also experiencing a lot of gas? Does anything relieve your pain? And, are you having normal bowel movements?
