About Junko Expertise I can answer most questions pertaining to teen health, thought I cannot give medical advice. I can explain medical terminology, describe medical conditions and hopefully help people understand what is going on with their bodies. If I don`t know an answer to a question, being a medical student, I can easily find out the answer since I have many resources I can refer to.

Question I've been dating this guy for 4 months. We had to be broken up by my parents because of a privite reason. But we're still talking on the phone. He had told me that his mother has cancer. And im guessing that she has it now. And i'm hoping that he does'nt have it. we've kissed and then my mom told me that if his mother has it there might be a chance he might have it to. But that can't be if his mother just got it right? And if he does have it would it be passed to me how and why.
please help me thanks

Answer Hi Victoria,
While there are some viruses that people can get that can increase their chances of developing cancer, cancer, itself, is not contagious. You can't "catch" cancer from someone else so you don't need to worry about getting it from your boyfriend or his mother.
