About Junko
Expertise
I can answer most questions pertaining to teen health, thought I cannot give medical advice. I can explain medical terminology, describe medical conditions and hopefully help people understand what is going on with their bodies. If I don`t know an answer to a question, being a medical student, I can easily find out the answer since I have many resources I can refer to.

Experience
I am a 4th year medical student.

Question
I am a 16 year old male. A week ago, I discovered on the back of the neck, under the skin, a bump. It feels smooth and is not painful. It seems to possibly have changed shape a little bit since i discovered it but I am not sure. I am nervous about what it might be. Can anyone help me?

Answer
Hi Josh,

Without more information or physical examination, it's very difficult to say what the lump might be.  It could be an infection, allergic reaction, an enlarged lymph node, etc.  I think your best bet would be to go see a doctor.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.  Good luck!
