About Junko
Expertise
I can answer most questions pertaining to teen health, thought I cannot give medical advice. I can explain medical terminology, describe medical conditions and hopefully help people understand what is going on with their bodies. If I don`t know an answer to a question, being a medical student, I can easily find out the answer since I have many resources I can refer to.

Experience
I am a 4th year medical student.

how can i loose weight?

Answer
Hi Danny,

The best way for you to lose weight is to maintain a healthy diet and to exercise.  The key to losing weight is to take in fewer calories than you use.  For your own reference, the recommended daily caloric intake is anywhere
between 1600 and 2200 calories.  If you're going to do this on your own, you can calculate your current caloric intake based on what you eat now and try to reduce this gradually (but don't reduce your caloric intake by
more than 1000 calories below the recommended daily intake, otherwise you may cause your body to go into starvation mode which can make it harder for you to lose weight).  You also want to make sure to reduce your
caloric intake slowly so you don't cause your body's metabolism to slow down.  And, again, exercise is very important, especially in helping you maintain your weight once you get to a weight that you're happy with.

As I'm sure you know, there are many weight loss programs out there designed to help people lose weight.  If you feel you need help, these programs may be helpful for you.  You may also consider consulting a nutritionist and your doctor to help you design a healthy weight loss program.

I hope this helps some, and good luck!

-Junko
