Question
i'm writing a paper for school and was wondering, how do you think christian music effects teens compared to secular music? i personally listen to christian a lot so i cant give a completely unbiased opinion. thanx

Answer
Before you read this answer, you must know that I am a Christian and also listen to a lot of Christian music, but I also do listen to a lot of secular music as well. Not the really bad stuff that swears every 10 seconds, but I do listen to it. Please take this fact into consideration while you are reading this.

When teens listen to christian music, some of them notice that it's different. It's not all about drugs and sex and other things like that. I's usually about a God that loves them, even though they may not know it.
Also, a proven fact is that every time that you hear (or see) a swear word or sexual referance, that makes you more likely to swear, or more likey to have sex and the same with drugs and so on. With secular music, most songs are about drugs/sex/money and other things like that.
Christian music isn't always noted by the listener for it's words. A lot of times people like the music or the voice etc. but sometimes, when a person listens to the songs enough times, or if they just decide to really listen to the words, even if they don't go and get saved because of the music, can at the least get them thinking. They might want to know more about whatever God it is that makes this person sing such great things about him.
Just as a side note, they might also ask, something like "Well, where are the songs about Anubis and Zeus?" and "What makes this God so wonderful that thousand of people decide to write songs about him and to him?" It really depends on the person, but some people really listen to the lyrics and it can really get a person thinking about it.
I have even heard stories of people listening to a song and getting saved just because it moved them so much.
On the other hand, some of the Christian music makes people hate God more for some reason. Usually that is becuase they have already made up their mind not to believe in God or something else along the same line.
