Question hey greg, do you think that heavier rock music has a negative influence on teenagers? i'm writing a paper for school and i've read a lot of stuff on how bad rock is and all that jazz. i personally don't really think that it has a *really* bad message, but it seems truer the more i think about it. thanx
Answer Hello Michaela. Yea a lot of people assume rock is bad. Especially if the artists wear masks or sound scary. Too bad none of them actually listen to the music. It is real easy to judge music when you don't like to listen to it. You have to have an open mind in order to judge music.
Ok so you address your question. I don't think rock music has any more negative affect then rap music or country music. See all music has negative influences on teenagers. People just tend to key in on rock music artists cause they are easy targets. They wear eye make up or they have masks on. So no, I don't believe it has more negative influence on teenagers then any other music. Have you ever heard of Atreyu? They are rock bordering on scremo and yea they are scary. They scream so that scares many people but if you listen to the song "Becoming the Bull", it talks about overcoming your fears and so forth.
So if you are asking me straight up if rock has negative influences on teenagers then my reply is: "No more then any other genre of music does".
