Question
QUESTION: Are teens negatively influenced by rock music?
ANSWER: Ok I've answered this question a million times and I believe the answer you are looking for is in one of my previous answers. Please go to the previous answers because I go into a lot more detail then I will right now and I covered a huge topic.

Onto your question, well music in general is influential. Music can teach you to hate or to love. To be inspired or to be depressed. Like for instance Rap music, a song like "ridin" by Chamillionare could teach you to hate the cops and want to kill them for their oppression on black people. At the same time, a rock song called "If everyone cared" by Nickleback can teach you to love and be in peace. Of course all genres have bot influences. So if you ask me straight up if rock music influences teens negatively, then I will say yes, yes it does; BUT keep in mind that so does every other type of music. Opera, Orchestral, country and pop are included into this. Don't believe me? Watch Gladiator, the Orchestra's score is so powerful and makes you feel more manly and want to go into battle. Country, if you really listen, have some bad songs as well. So to say rock music can influence teens negatively is sort of a bias. Not all rock music is negative, just like not all Chinese people are good at math (I can say that cause I am Asian ^_^). I hope that answers your question. If you interested more, please look at my previous answers and if there is a topic I have not covered, feel free to ask.

QUESTION: can you give me any examples on how teens are negatively influenced by rock music?

Answer
I can't stress this enough, if you just want the negatives then your only looking at half the picture. It's like watching a magician when you are blind. Got it? Ok now onto your question, I can't give you any specific examples because no one can get into the head of a person and know what exactly is happening but I can give you some close guesses. Rock can cause a person to change from a positive self image to a negative self image. A lot of rock music seem to have negative lyrics such as "I push my fingers into my eye, it's the only thing that slowly stops the pain". That's from Slipknot, lyrics from Duality. One of my favorite songs but I can see how it would change a person from happy and light to dark and twisty. Lyrics of rock music can also give you unhealthy ideas such as killing and suicide. Limp Bizkit made a song called Break Stuff which in total is about not messing with a person or he'll kick your *censored*. Rock music could also influence you to dress unlike the social norm. Such as black clothes all the time. This isn't necessarily bad in my sense but in society, it's considered to be unacceptable.

Rock music has also been somehow linked to shootings. While experts claim this is true, I highly highly doubt it. While songs can give you ideas, the total blame should not be targeted on music just cause it's easy. A lot of the blame should go to the parents for not checking up on their kids.

Like I said before, If you want more specific examples of shootings and such influenced by rock music, I can't give them to you. In fact, no one can give them to you cause you can't read the killers mind so hence you can't say it for a fact. If you had a specific situation or question you wanted me to answer, please send it. No need to be discreet. Anyway, I hoped I helped you.
