Subject: My son wants the Drist Album Orchids and Ammunition

Question
My son is almost 15 and wants to get the album Orchids and Ammunition for Christmas. I do not know anything about it, but I notice the song Arterial Black..which could mean veins containing black blood. I want to know if this album contains morbid material or any death like theme. He probably wants it just for the music, but eventually he will learn the lyrics and I dislike the whole obsession with death thing..
Thank you

Answer
I looked up the Arterial Black song by Drist and i didn't come up with anything about death. It's hard to decyfer the meaning of this song. The lyrics are as follows
I know you can't recall anything at all or why were're standing here.
The day you figure out your words had crumbled just below your feet.

This is how a mountain gathers, purposely directed shadows.
This sinking ship has information that will tear us a part

Along the way we learn things too hard.
Whisper out the way to stop my heart.

The things you used to say before the day I used to care at all.
It's in the fingertips, I caught you looking; hazing down on me.

What i thought it was saying was that change is always happening so be careful. This albums sounds ok and has a rock sound to it. I like it. I thought that there was nothing about death in there. I can see why you would dislike the obsession with death thing and the most important way for your child not to become like that is by talking to him. Make sure he feels comfortable with talking to you. Children that are neglected tend to be more obsessed with death. I hope that helps.
