Subject: Dry sex
Question Help me!
My boyfriend and I have had dry sex a few times, on and off for a week. I'm
certain that I've always worn underpants and either pajamas or jeans while
doing this, and he has worn either boxers plus some form of pants, or only
boxers. He has only cum directly while on top of me (or underneath me) a few
times, while other times he has mostly finished the job for himself after I
have climaxed. My period is usually quite irregular, and during this week of
dry sex I was already 1 week late. Now, the following week, I am
approximately 2 weeks late. I am still very worried about pregnancy. I do have
the feeling like I am working myself up for no reason at all, considering i've
never worn less that 2 layers of clothing while being with him, and he has
never touched me 'down there' and I've only touched him a few times, but
never myself directly afterwards, but I am still worried. I don't know what to
think. He respects my wishes to not have actual sex for a while, and seems
satisfied with what we're doing for now. However, after this scare, I'm so
worried and worked up about it (possibly contributing stress to my late-
period situation) that I doubt I'll ever have dry sex again without a condom.
Please help me! I have no one to ask and I haven't even spoken to my
boyfriend about this. In addition, my sleeping patterns and diet have been
turned upside down lately, which I suppose could also be contributing to my
already usually irregular period. But I'm still worried! Help!
Erin
Answer Dear Erin,
It seems highly unlikely that you could have gotten pregnant from the sexual activity you described. The only way to know for sure is to take a pregnancy test.
Wait until at least two weeks have passed since the last date of the sexual activity you've described. Then go to a drugstore and purchase a home pregnancy test. Be sure to follow the directions exactly, such as making sure to take the test first thing in the morning. These tests are usually very accurate.
If the the test is negative and you still haven't gotten your period, look in the phone book for a Planned Parenthood in your area. They take patients who have difficulty paying for medical services and they charge less for people such as yourself. Go to them to find out what is wrong.
Best wishes,
Deb
