Question My boyfriend and me had sexual intercourse for the first time last week 8 days ago today. We used protection and he got special condoms for extra preventing pregnancy, too .. We're only sixteen and we wanted to be safe on the first time we had sex. He ejaculated in me but it didn't last long. My period is sometimes irregular, off a few days or a week, But the last 2 months I got it the 28th .. so I expected it the 28th this month. But although it's only been 2 days and is now the 30th, I haven't gotten it. Ofcourse I'm worrying since I just had intercourse, but I thought I felt symptoms for my period the past 3-4 days.. Aching, my skin changing like it usually does, mood swings.. But the pain in my back and sides seemed worse than usual, or So i think? I can't tell if It's just my mind playing tricks on me but I'ts worrying me that It could be a chance I'm getting pregnant, AND I am aware that stress and worrying can delay period cycles.. I just wanted a second, good opinion on what this might mean and If there is a chance?
Answer Dear Lisa,
8 days is not enough time for you to be having any symptoms related to a possible pregnancy. So while your pain in your back and sides may very well be getting worse, that has nothing to do with pregnancy.
As far as there being a chance that you are pregnant, anytime you have sex there's a chance that you'll get pregnant. Some chances are higher than others, though, and in your case, the chances that you are pregnant are very, very small.
After 2 weeks have passed since the date of sexual activity, if you have not gotten your period you could take a home pregnancy test.
