Answer Dear Vanessa,
How long ago did this happen? If it just happened within 3 days, you could still have time to use Plan B Emergency Contraception. That works if taken within 3 days of sexual activity.
Besides that, the only way to tell if you are pregnant or not is to wait and see if you miss a period. That is the first symptom most women get of pregnancy. If you do miss your period, you could then take a home pregnancy test to see if you are pregnant or not.
The pull out/withdrawal method has a 27% failure rate for two reasons:
1. The man didn't pull out in time even though he thought he did/or said he did.
2. Precum, the liquid that comes out of a penis before ejaculation, can sometimes mix with any sperm leftover in the man's penis from a recent, previous ejaculation, and cause pregnancy. This is rare, though.
Try not to worry until you miss a period. Then test. If you get a positive, write back and we'll handle it from there.
Take care,
Deb
