Subject: I think im pregnant?

Question
I'm 14 and had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on 23rd and 30th June, he came up me both times and i think i might be pregnant. Four days after we did it i got really sore boobs and i just had a feeling i was pregnant thats why we didn't use protection the second time. I'm due on my period on 5th July so i was wondering if i dont come on my period when can i take a HPT?

Answer
Dear Natalie,

The answer to your question about when you can take an HPT is, as soon as your period is late. Make sure to follow the directions exactly.  For example, take the test first thing in the morning. This is when your urine will be the most concentrated with highest level of pregnancy hormone.

The soonest a person could realistically have pregnancy symptoms would be about two weeks after unprotected sex.  That's because the hormone that causes the symptoms, called hCG, is made by an embryo that has attached itself to the lining of the uterus.  It takes about two weeks
for this to happen.  In other words, the sore boobs and the pregnancy feeling were not pregnancy symptoms.

The first reliable pregnancy symptom experienced by most women is a missed period.

Best wishes,

Deb
