Question
QUESTION: I have been careless and I have had unprotected sex with my boyfriend about 4 times in the past 2 weeks...I used to be on the pill but I have not taken it for a couple of months. I just want the truth, can I be pregnant?

ANSWER: Dear Katherine,
Yes, you absolutely can be pregnant.  You might want to look into Plan B Emergency Contraception.  You can buy this at a drugstore without a prescription.  It works up to 5 days after unprotected sex.

If it's too late for that, wait and see if you miss your period.  That is the first reliable symptom of pregnancy.  If you do miss it, you can buy a home pregnancy test to see if you are pregnant or not.

Best wishes,

Deb

QUESTION: Okay, so since this has happened 4 times recently...your guess is that I am pregnant? I don't keep track of when I get my period but I don't think I have had it for awhile...you really think I'm pregnant?

Answer
Dear Katherine,

My exact words were:  "Yes, you absolutely can be pregnant."  There is no possible way for anyone to tell over the internet if you definitely are pregnant or not.  However, through your description of your recent actions, I can safely say that you could very well be pregnant.  You need an examination by a doctor or you could take a home pregnancy test yourself to find out for sure.

If you aren't sure when your next period is, then wait until 2 weeks have passed since your last sexual activity.  Then take the home pregnancy test. It should be accurate.

Best wishes,

Deb
