Question
hi my name is ciara and i'm in need of someones help!
ok my last 2 periods were about 5 to 7 days late.but i had sex on the day of my period a month before this started happening! and we used a condom! and now me and my boyfriend had sex july 30 2008 the day right after my period and the condom broke...im not worried because i read that you cant get pregnant well you can but its very unlikely. but now i eat like crazy and my stomach is sore!! like really sore and i gain about 3 or 4 pounds.. i honestly dont think i am but i dont want to go back to school and play vollyball and i can be.
so do you think that its possible?

Answer
Dear Ciara,

It is possible but unlikely, as you have said.  None of the symptoms you have described are related to pregnancy, because it is just too early.  You may not even be technically pregnant yet, meaning the embryo hasn't implanted in the uterus yet, even if you were to become pregnant from the July 30th sexual activity.

You should definitely go back to school and play volleyball, because continuing your normal activity wouldn't harm a pregnancy, if you happened to become pregnant.

The soonest you would experience any symptom would likely be missing your period.  If this happened, you can take a home pregnancy test at that time.

Best wishes,

Deb
