Question
On Tuesday my girlfriend and I had sex, without a condom. The sex was relatively quick (we didn't have much time). She's been on the pill since April, and hasn't missed a day. I don't know how strong her brand of the pill is, but she did have lots of vomiting the first week she started it (it does not make her miss her period...I don't know if that's not important, not a woman =/). I feel terrible about not using a condom, though she partly blames herself (she wanted to try it).

Anyway, today (thursday) she's telling me that she has mild cramps (unrelated to her menstrual cycle, she shouldn't be on her period for roughly two weeks). I was wondering if this is important in any way? I sent her a list of symptoms of pregnancy that can appear early on (spotting, bleeding, nausea, headaches, morning sickness, sore breasts, etc) but she tells me that she feels no different from her normal self. Am I just paranoid?

Answer
Dear Sam,

It would be impossible for your gf to have any pregnancy symptoms this early.  It takes at least two weeks from the time you have sex before anything happens.

If she takes her pill religiously as you say, you should be ok.

Take care,

Deb
