Subject: My girlfriend is a little over a week late on her period...

Question
My girlfriend is just now getting over mononucleosis. She does not have any of the symptoms of pregnancy except the late period and fatigue.  I believe the fatigue is from the mono though because one of mononucleosis's major symptoms is the fatigue. She also has been on many medications for the mono plus she had her gardasil shot about a month ago.  We also had a serious fight and she's been very stressed lately.  My question is considering all of these factors, could these be the reasons her period is over a week late or do you think she may be pregnant?

Answer
Dear Danny,

Yes, all of those factors could be involved in the reason for the late period, but pregnancy is a more likely cause.

You don't have to guess, though, you can find out for sure right now whether she's pregnant or not.  Go buy her a home pregnancy test at any drugstore.

Best wishes,

Deb
