Question
I have been on birth control for what maybe almost a year....i have been sexually active for 2 years. I recently had sex but we used a condom and when we did it again we used to POM pull out method. After, having sex i began to experience bad cramps whenever i had to pass gas and also i was very sore. After 2 days i thought i was back to normal. So, 1 one week passed and my period was suppose to come on as of now my period is 5 days late....and i am really worried that i might be pregnant! But I took 3 home pregnancy tests 1-2 days after my expected pregnancy was suppose to come....and they all came out negative. Even though the results negative im and still worrying and stressing that i am pregnant i mean im only 17.....do you think that there's a possibility that im pregnant. Prior to having sex...the Sunday after my previous period i took 2 active pills of my birth control then waited almost two and took another active pill after we had sex; do you think that this could be a factor. Even though i haven't had my period i still have that funny feeling. What should i do?

Answer
Dear C,

In order for a pregnancy test to be accurate, you should wait at least 2 weeks after you had sex before you take the test.  It sounds like you took the teat too early.  Take it again after 2 weeks have passed since you last had sex.  If it still is negative but you have not gotten your period, go to the doctor to find out what is wrong.

Good luck,

Deb
