Question Dear Diana,
My name is Millie. I'm seventeen years old and I'm 14 weeks pregnant. My parents are trying to keep my boyfriend(the baby's father) out of the picture. They also will not allow me to go anywhere except for work or school because "I am an embarrassment to the family". I want to get emancipated. They smoke cigarettes around me all the time like it's no big deal, but I hate it. I know it's terrible for my baby.
I've been told that in some states you are automatically emancipated when you become pregnant. I was wondering if that's true for West Virginia?
I can't find any Teen Pregnancy rights for the State of West Virginia.
thank you,
Millie
Answer Hey,
I'm not sure as I'm from New Zealand, but that's a terrible way that your family are treating you. Do you have a job? Cause if you do, I suggest you get out of there, it sounds terrible. Smoking is terrible for unborn babies.
If you have a job, do you make enough to support yourself?
