Question I'm 15 years old. my last period was on October 18, 2009. My next one is supposed to be on Nov. 15, 2009. I had unprotected sex on Oct. 24, 2009 and a couple other days that month. I've had nausea, sore breasts, funny taste in my mouth, weird food craving for things i usually don't eat, some odors make me feel sick, I'm always tired, I've been having to use the bathroom a lot more, I've had a congested feeling in my pelvis, headaches, backaches, white discharge, and a weird feeling in my abdomen. i haven't taken a pregnancy test yet because my boyfriend said to wait a week to see if things continued the way they were. I'm wondering if it'll be too early to tell.
Answer Dear Marissa,
It is much too early for you to be having pregnancy symptoms. Pregnancy symptoms are caused by the hormone HCG. HCG is not released into the bloodstream until the embryo implants into the uterus. This takes place around the same time you would be expecting your next period. For this reason, the first, most reliable pregnancy symptom is a missed period.
If your period is late, then it will the correct time to take a home pregnancy test.
Best wishes,
Deb
