Question
Okay so I asked another expert a similar question but I didn't get a reply yet and I need one FAST. Okay so a little over a week ago (Thursday) I had sex. Now I'm 14 turning 15 in a few weeks. It was foolish of me I know but it was a stupid spur of the moment thing. Yes, he had a condom on and it didn't work out since I was so nervous about sex that I was hardly turned on enough to really enjoy anything so his penis didn't really get in that much. So we just ended up fingering and make out and hand job and whatever. From what I know, he didn't cum and the condom I'm pretty sure was on the whole time and didn't slip or break. Well I missed my period and I should have had it about a week ago. If I'm pregnant my dad will murder me and possibly kick me out of the house. He'll have a royal freak out. I've had some cramping today and I did get a nose bleed and my mom told me she use to get nose bleeds when she was pregnant with me and my little brother. I'm just so worried and scared that I'm pregnant. If I am I already know that I can't take care of it. I'm going to have to give it up for adoption. It's also felt like my stomach is in knots and I've had quite an appetite these last couple days. I am just so scared and confused on if I am pregnant. Do you think I am? What are the chances of me being pregnant? I'm so worried.

Answer
Dear Bianca,

It sounds like your period was due at the same time you had sex:

"a little over a week ago (Thursday) I had sex."
"I missed my period and I should have had it about a week ago."

If this is correct your missed period cannot have anything to do with a pregnancy.

Your nose bleed cannot be a symptom of pregnancy, because you could not be technically pregnant yet anyway.  It takes approximately 2 weeks after sex for pregnancy to begin.  Pregnancy and symptoms do not start until the embryo has implanted in the uterus.

If you do not have your period in another week, take a home pregnancy test.  You can buy this at any drugstore.  If you need help after you take this test, please write back.

It doesn't sound like you are pregnant to me, because from what you've said, it doesn't sound like any sperm got anywhere near you:

"he didn't cum and the condom I'm pretty sure was on the whole time and didn't slip or break."

Take care,

Deb
