Teen Pregnancy/really confused..

Question
My name is Jasmine and I am 16 years old. My periods have never been regular so I have had many pregnancy scares. me and my boyfriend have been together for almost two years now, and because we know we are eachothers only sexual partners and I'm on birth control we don't use condoms (it isn't too smart, I know). I couldn't remember when my last period was or even the time around it. I thought I had it around March 13 but he thought I had it the end of February. So we've been really scared. I took a pregnancy test on the 14th of April but it was negative. I thought I started my period on the 18th of April but I only bled for a few hours...I'm confused and scared. Could you please tell me what might be happening?
Jasmine.

Answer
Hi Jasmine,
Well first off irregular or missed periods aren't always pregnancy. I went 4 months without a period and wasn't pregnant!
Worrying about pregnancy can make your periods stop. If it has been 19 days after you had unprotected sex you will get an accurate result from a pregnancy test.
However, go to your local family planning clinic and ask about contraceptive choices for females. There are ones that are really good that you don't have to remember to take and work wonders!
