Teen Pregnancy - pregancy and period

Expert: Deborah - 5/7/2009

Question
when you on a certain medicine like gardisl can you still get pregnant? when you have sex the day before you suppose to get your period but the cramps do happen but your period is three days late what do that means? can you have a heavy period for one month and still be pregnant?

Answer
Dear Charisma,

GARDASIL is a vaccine, it is not a medicine that prevents pregnancy.  It doesn't have anything to do with pregnancy, so you can still get pregnant.

If you have sex and then get your period, even if it is 3 days late, it means you are not pregnant.

If you have a heavy period for an entire month you should see a doctor right away.  That is a sign that something is wrong.  You could get pregnant after the period has stopped.

Take care,
Deb
