Question Hi, i'm 15 years old and have realised that my foreskin wont come back over the head. Is this normal or do i have a problem because i is really annoying me as i know most mens foreskin do come back over the head. Please help me !
Answer Hello there Andrew,
The foreskin is a piece of skin that covers the head of the penis with the intention of protecting the glans from irritation and dirt. It also helps during sexual intercourse by rubbing the glans and causing stimulation. With all that in mind, it is just a piece of skin and as with most skin, depending upon the circumstance the skin can become tight and constricted or it can become loose and moveable. For the majority of men who do have a foreskin, the foreskin is able to be comfortabley rolled behind the head of the penis (for cleaning) without pain or discomfort. There are some men that have difficulty in doing this, but after a warm bath or shower, find that the skin becomes softer and it becomes easier to do this. If not, then there could be a medical condition called Phimosis which is where the skin has just naturally become too tight and this is corrected by an operation to remove it.
It could be though Andrew, that because you're growing up and your body is changing that you may find that this problem eases with time and that your foreskin will become loose. If not, or if you are not able to clean your penis properly by rolling it down even after a hot shower or bath, then I can only recommend seeing a doctor. It's nothing to worry about in terms of severity, but in terms of cleanliness and ease of sex, if it doesn't let up, go and see a doctor.
