Question Hey,I'm only 17 but I really need someone to talk to,and I think a stranger can
help me more than my family.. See my parents argue a lot,and I feel most of
the time it's my fault. I have thought of suicide a lot,and I'm always
depressed, but they don't know,I hide it well. I have not been on any dates or
anything because I'm scared in so many ways that he'll hate me because of
my parents,or because I don't smile a lot.I want to move out of my house a
lot,but with my dad being unemployed we have three jobs that we do,and it
feels like more stress has been put on me to make them good, but everything
I do for them seems to be ignored and they find only the flaws of me..
The question is..What should I do to be happy?
Answer Hi Lydia. It sounds to me like you should probably see a professional so you can talk about everything that is going on at home and your feelings, because if you are having frequent suicidal thoughts then you may be suffering from a level of depression and are likely to need treatment. You can talk to your GP or your parents can arrange for you to see a psychologist, although from what you’ve said it might just be easier to talk to your GP. GP’s in most countries and states will give you a level of confidentiality after the age of 16 if you ask. Hopefully that way you can talk about things properly and get treatment for depression if need be. Good luck.
