About Emily
Expertise
I can answer almost all teen issues such as self harm, suicide, eating disorders, depression and other mental health disorders, drugs, alcohol, assault, harrassment, family problems, trauma, friendship problems and a lot more, so just ask. Pretty much anything that teens have to face I can answer. I'm also Christian and non-judgmental so I can answer questions relating to religion. I will not judge people about anything.

Experience
I've experienced a lot of stuff in my life including facing death in several ways, self-harm, suicide, alcohol, harrassment, family and friendship issues and more. I've had to deal with my dad being sick all my life with MS and cancer, and I've dealt with severe depression, anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder. I tried to kill myself more than once and now I want to help other teens who are having trouble.

Answer
Hi Cody. I’m sure you’re already aware of the dangers of smoking and the health problems it causes so I don’t need to go into that.  I hate to tell you this but smoking doesn’t really relax you or anything like that; it’s just psychological. Smoking just takes your mind off things, your breathing is deep and more regular, and people seem to associate it with relaxing. In actual fact you can get the same affect from just adjusting your breathing and taking your mind off things. People just start to rely on smoking and then convince themselves nothing else helps. If you have a positive mind then you can find something a lot safer to help you that will work just as well but won’t damage your health and cause problems with your mother. A lot of people use writing or drawing, or even just repeating something over and over inside your head. Good luck
