Question
For a lot of my life,(I'm 16 BTW) I've been an extremely shy person. I didn't interact with anyone, and it didn't affect me.

I've just started my Junior year of High School, and something completely unexpected has happened. I've been placed in an Honors class, and this may be the first group of kids I've ever met that I really like. Especially a certain girl...

But, I've been so withdrawn for so long, I have found myself completely unable to socialize.

This 'certain girl' also has me feeling very depressed. I want to be friends with all of these kids, but her most of all. Whenever I think of her, go to her myspace, etc... I get this feeling of total inadequacy. Like she's just too beautiful for me to have anything to do with her.

This has really caused me quite a bit of distress, so please help me any way possible. Thank you.

Answer
Jack, I highly recommend talking to your doctor. Your problem is very common. I cannot treat it online. All I can say is I had the same problem as yours and after speaking to my doctor he was able to help me. Today people tell me they couldn't believe that was me in the yearbook. Please ask follow ups

P.S. My first action to the doctor was in college. About Myspace I recommend talking to your parents and our online safety area. This site has safety risks.
