Expert: Louise Date: 8/4/2008 Subject: convince my parents...?
Question hi, so, i need to convince my parents that i'm responsible. i want contact lenses ( i have glasses but i hate how i look in them, and i keep on breaking them accidentally). i've asked my parents, and they said i'm not respnosible enough for them. i wanted them for 2 years already. my older sister got contacts when she was in 8th grade, and i'm going into 8th grade, so i'm not too young. money's not the problem, since my sister has them.i'm doing very well in school, and my room is usually neat, so i guess the reason i can't have them is because i forget all my mother's rules.she makes a lot of weird ones, like, we can't sit on a certain couch, or we can't walk into a certain room! it's very easy to forget things like that. and we're going to an eye appointment next week, so i have to get them then. what can i do to convince my parents that i'm responsible enough for them? and do you think i could change their minds within a week?
please get back to me. thanks!!
Answer Hello Kelly,
Obviously your parents know what is best for you.....Just because your sister did or had something at a certain age doesn't necessarily mean that you and her have the same maturity at the same ages......You can't compare yourself to others you are an individual....
Perhaps your sister was just more responsible than you are and your parents felt ok with her having contacts.....As you say you keep breaking your glasses so I'm sure that feel you may loose the contacts rather than break them.....I'm sure if you are able to keep the glasses unbroken for a year or so they may feel you are ready for contacts...
Your parents know what's best.... Just keep in mind arguing with them will not convince them to change their minds......
