I have been involved in pastoral type counseling for 20+ years. Most of my experience has been with chemical addiction, crisis intervention, and some types of severe mental illness. I have some secular training in those areas as well as a Bible College degree.

Subject: 13 yr old son if afraid of everything
Question
My 13 yr old son worries about everything and if fearful of alot. I am afraid he wont be able to enjoy life while he is always thinking and worrying about the worst case scenario. Do you have any suggestions other than medication? I was considering finding a hypno therapist to maybe hypnotize him not to be so afraid. I'd appreciate any advice you give. Thank you for your help.

Hi Amy,
The first thing that I would suggest is that he develop a personal relationship with God. Yes, he should go to church and he should be very involved in youth group, but he should also learn about God personally. If he develops a real and personal relationship, then he can learn to trust in a power greater than Himself to keep him safe.
