Answer
Hi Joshua,

Thanks for these great questions.  Let me remind you of what the Bible teaches:

Proverbs 4:1-4

Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. 2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. 3 For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. 4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

God gave you your parents by design.  They see things that you cannot see yet.  It is very unwise to assume that they are wrong and that you understand better than they do.  You will be safest following the direction of both your parents and your pastors.

Hebrews 13:17
17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

I know that is not what you wanted to hear, but I hope that it helps.  By the way, even if I would make a different call in the areas in question, God did not give me to you as your parent, He gave you the ones you have.... follow them.

In Christ
Pastor Don
