Subject: strange little sister
Question QUESTION: Hi Jerry! I'm sincerely hoping that the title Dr. means you are a doctor of psychology, but if not, I'm hoping you can help anyway.
My little sister is a little... odd. There are certain spots on her body that she freaks out if you touch or accidentally brush them. These "sensitive spots," as she calls them, are located on her elbows, neck, knee pits, arm pits, wrists, and shoulder blades. It's very strange. She cringes away as if she's in pain, but my entire family thinks it's entirely psychological. She also has this very strange aversion to medical science. Most of my family is afraid of needles, but that's as far as we get. However, she freaks out and feels like she's going to faint or pass out if you even mention the words "surgery" or "shot" or any number of medical terms. What's wrong with her? Is this all just something she's blown way out of proportion?
ANSWER: Hi,
How old is she? How long she been having these episodes? Once I have these information then I will be able to assist you.
You have a nice day.

QUESTION: She is twelve years old and has been doing this for about three or four years now.
Answer Hi Jared,
It could be just her phobia, (fear of something) can be seeing, feel, or hear things. For example, myself have a mild phobia is heights, but it is normal for people to be scared of something such as mouse, spiders, small other stuff but it is uncommon for people to have most serious phobia which needs to be seen by psychologist.
As for freaking out, it may be just her own imagination, I do agree it is little bit odd due to her age.
Try avoid mentioning of any medical terms and say something in substitute words instead medical term. If it does not work, then I suggest to have her evaluated by psychologist.
I think she may benefit "CBT" Cognitive Behavior Therapy treatment, consult with the therapist.
You have a wonderful day.
Doc Jerry
