Question
I have been reading the responses made to other concern adults. I'm in the same situation. My daughter's boyfiend has just been kicked out of his home. He is 18 years old and a senior in school. He only have 2 credits to do to graduate in December 2007. His mother kicked him out because he would not give over his paycheck to her. In this process she physically abused when with closed fists. He is staaying with neighbors but the mother is making it difficult to stay there. she is also verbally and emotionally abusing this kid. I am trying to ask everyone I know who has room to help this kid, he has a good job and wants to attend college locacally. But he feels its no hope. He doesn't want to go to DSS, because his mother will get into trouble and his sibling will suffer. The father will not react to the siutation and will do what the mother says. We need immediate help here, there has to be a place for a youg adult (18yrs) to go. Will DSS do anything because of his age. I don't want this incident to change his life for the worse. He just needs a few months before he graduate and get into college....

Answer
Hello,
I am Expert Dan. I cannot give legal advice, yet in my state 18 year olds are allowed to be kicked out by the parents. Than again I cannot give all the details for the rules with this, so I recommend asking a lawyer for your state laws with this.

As for how she is abusing him it depends exactly what is going on. There are laws against abuse, yet I won't give legal advice with this. Each state again has different policies.

If you post your state here, I will see what I can find out. If there is a place he can contact for help or such.

I recommend James Windell in the Parenting Teen area. Please ask follow ups

Sorry I couldn't post more with the information above. Really cannot give legal advice here. The above is not legal advice.
