Question I am a bit worried because I am 12, almost 13 and I still like Barbie, toy ponies, pollies, dolls, cuddly toys and when I go out with my best friend charley, she likes clothes, make-up, trying on shoes and everything, but I don't like it because I can't keep my eyes away from snow white dolls. People always say, why can't you act your age? The thing is, I want to act my age but I can't help it. It's out of my control. I just like nothing a normal 12 year old likes. Is there anything wrong with me?
Answer Hi,
As I'm not a doctor I cannot tell you if there is anything wrong with you. If you want talk to your doctor about this and be tested as I see this worries you. Note we cannot give medical advice here and the above is not medical advice.
I will tell you people go in stages. It's called stages of development. The stages are NOT solid and depending on who you look at with the psychological data they may go by different standards or such.
I should add puberty is not a solid age either. I assume and that's just a theory that you will enter the puberty stage soon. You may already be in this stage. It's not uncommon for girls to like Barbie dolls at age 12 or 13 even in this stage. I knew a 15 year old who liked Barbie dolls.
Based on what you said I cannot rule anything is wrong with you. But, if you want and I always do recommend this, talk to your doctor and they should explain this to you.

FYI--- I can give you a basic test that while not official, can help check your mental growth. Do you want this?
The above is not medical advice and does not replace seeing a doctor. As you are not my patient and I do not know you, I cannot label anyone. The above is just based on what you said. I am not a psychologist or a doctor. All medical questions need to be asked to a doctor.
