Subject: I want to transfer to a different school...

Question
QUESTION: My mom made me go to an all-girl catholic school, because she said that since my sister went there as well, I should go, too. However, my sister admitted to me that she hated it, and now I can see why...I'm just not the type of girl who wants to be surrounded by all girls, all the time for four straight years. I talk to guys, too. And I miss the days of having crushes on them.

The girls here have cliques and preps, obviously, and anyone above the freshman year refuses to talk to me, because they say 'I'm not old enough for them.' I want to transfer to another school that I've had in mind. My friend has cousins that go there, and she told me that her cousins love it as much as anyone could ever love highschool. It has boys and girls that go there. I just wish my mom could change her mind for once. I want to make decisions, especially ones involving something as important as high school.

I believe that I have already made the mistake of allowing my mom to force me to come here...I care about my grades too, but I don't have any friends here, and it's already been  over two months.

ANSWER: Hi,
How old are you? What state? And how close is this other school to you? Is price a factor? Where is your father?

Please ask follow ups

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: I'm a freshman in high school, so I'm 14. I live in Maryland, and this other school that I want to go to is even closer to my house than my current school is. It costs about the same, too. However, my father remains indifferent about it and says that only my mom should make the decision to decide what school to send me to.

Answer
Hi,
I was trying to check on the law in your state. Kind of having problems with this as I am not in your state. It's possible because you are 14 you may have some type of legal say, but as I'm not a lawyer I can't give any legal advice here. No lawyer would side with me with giving you advice without you being their client.

Speak to your principal and a trusted teacher at your school and see what they say and if they can help(it's possible). This new school is hurting your grades?

Now, should you change schools? I believe not, yet that's just from what I read.

Please ask follow ups. Please let me know how things go. Sorry about the delay

Please note it may be illegal for a 14 year old to date. Also please note changing schools for guys is not a good reason.

The above is not legal advice.
