Topic: Telecom (Phone, Fax, E-mail)

Expert: Spencer Holcombe
Date: 11/12/2007
Subject: 5.8 GHz phone and radio interference

Question
I have been picking up what I believe to be radio stations on my phone.  What can I do to avoid this?  Changing the channel seems to have not helped.  Are my phone conversations being picked up over the radio?

Answer

Kera,
Without more information, I can only give you some general tips.

You can install an RF filter on your telephone jack to prevent radio interference. These are available at most electronic stores. You can also try moving your BASE
UNIT to another location, lowering the antenna,
or using another electrical outlet for your power source.
You can also try moving other electric devices away from the base unit.
NO, your conversations are not being broadcast on the radio.
